    Rita Shisler
    Quota International of Wooster, OH

Rita Shisler is Quota International of Wooster's second vice president and chair of the club's Hearing and Speech Committee.

She was born in Linz, Austria, to Henrietta and Ludwig Baumgartner. Her father, a musician, worked for the American Army base in Linz and fell in love with the American families. His vow to raise his children in America came true, and they immigrated to New York, not able to speak a word of English. The most memorable moment of that trip for Rita was seeing the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor from the ship, a moment that is forever in her memory and forever in her heart.

Rita's family moved to Akron, joining relatives there and her real American journey began. She attended high school and college and took Culinary Arts classes at Cornell, while working in the hotel and restaurant business. Marriage brought her to Orrville and the cheese business. She has two sons.

Her other "child" is her wonderful cheese store, Shisler's Cheese House. It gives her the opportunity to meet many wonderful people and a great audience to brag to about Quota. She never misses the opportunity to make new friends in her business and has worked many hours to make it the success it is today.

Rita's community involvement is her pride and joy and what keeps her heart beating. She loves helping people and takes every opportunity to pay back her community. In addition to volunteering with Quota, she is a member of the St. Nikola Orthodox Church in Akron, the German Family Society in Brimfield and SignSations, a sign language music choir.

For her positive spirit and dedication to her family, work, and community, Quota International of Wooster honors Rita Shisler as their 2006 Volunteer of the Year.
