Eileen
Freebairn Eileen and her husband Joseph have resided in Connecticut for over 30
years, raising four children who have since added nine grandchildren to
the family. While raising her family she was pursuing a career in banking.
In her 29 years in the banking industry, Eileen rose through the ranks
to become commercial loan officer and eventually branch manager, positions
she filled with integrity and dedication for many years before her recent
retirement. An avid baseball fan and traveler, Eileen and her family can
be found at Yankee stadium when not vacationing with grandchildren and
children in Disneyland or even Ireland. Despite her full schedule, Eileen
always finds time to volunteer her services in several areas. Her desire
to help others is evidenced in her volunteer activities with the Danbury
Chapter of the American Red Cross, a cause she has served for 13 years12
of those years, as a member of the Board of Directors. One of the special
projects of the Danbury Red Cross staff is the annual Community Champions'
Breakfast, honoring people who have gone above and beyond, either in service
to the community or in rendering extraordinary help to a fellow human
being. Eileen has served as chairperson of this event for 10 years. When
the Bethel chapter of the American Cancer Society decided to sponsor a
Relay for Life, Eileen was one of the original supporters. For three years,
she has served as captain for the Quota team and at the same time she
was chairman of hospitality for the entire event. Eileen's interest in
education and sound values is demonstrated by her involvement with the
Bethel Public Library, on whose Board of Directors she served for two
years. She is also a member of the Bethel Democratic Women. As a dedicated
Quotarian, in her 15 years with Quota International of Candlewood Valley,
Eileen has held the offices of treasurer, recording secretary, vice president
and president. In addition, the club's special projects have gained from
her involvement. She has been chairperson of the Campership Project, the
Scholarship Committee, and the Community Service Committee. She has served
on the Budget Committee and Nominations Committee. Eileen has also served
at the district level when she was secretary/treasurer to Governor Louann
Noll from 1998 to 2000. For her dedication to family, to community, and
especially to Quota, we are proud to name Eileen Freebairn as Quota International
of Candlewood Valley's Volunteer of the Year. To return to the 2004 Volunteers of the Year main page, click here.
