    Trudie Gowarty
    Quota International of Raleigh, NC

Trudie Gowarty—a great member, leader, and volunteer—joined Quota International of Raleigh in 2001. She chaired the Service Committee for 2002 and agreed to serve again for 2003. Members of her club cannot say enough about all the good work and service Trudie gives to her community, friends, family, and anyone in need. Trudie hosted a Halloween party for the families of New Beginnings—a support service providing housing, career counseling, budget planning, and child guidance to displaced, single mothers. The children, mothers, and staff enjoyed the party, which included dinner, games, prizes, and gift baskets. Trudie's leadership helped make this event the "best service project of the year." Trudie also befriended a single mother in our community this year who found herself displaced, was diagnosed with breast cancer, and had her children removed from her custody. Trudie served this woman as a friend, advocate, and advice nurse throughout her ordeal. She gave encouragement to the woman's family members as they visited with her in her final days. Considered an angel by her club for this priceless gift, Trudie, members believe, now has an angel who watches over her in return.
