Janet
Skibinski A member of Quota since January 1994, Janet Skibinski is currently
recording and corresponding secretary as well as service chairman. She has
also held the offices of recording secretary, second vice president, and director.
Janet, however, says her favorite job in Quota is her chairmanship of the
Silent Auction, which is held during the Annual Casino Night fund-raiser.
She loves seeing the resulting scholarships for deaf and hard-of-hearing people.
"That really makes me feel good to know that we can help someone with
barriers reach a goal," comments Janet. Also active in the local community,
Janet has been a Cub Scout den mother; an American Red Cross volunteer; president
of the local American Association of Women in Community Colleges; and president
and secretary of the Kern Island ArtsFest Board. She serves on the board of
directors for the Americorp program and the Independent Living Center of Kern
County. Janet puts 110 percent into Quota projects, and, if you look closely,
you will probably find her husband and two daughters working right alongside
her. |
