"Held a combined dinner dance with Ingleburn Rotary club to raise
money to supply wigs to the wig library at Liverpool Hospital to help
men and women after cancer treatment. It helps give confidence to all
patients that receive a wig after being so sick."
QI of Kyogle, New South Wales, Australia
"Club holds Friendship Dinner, which increases our club's profile
in our area. It was financially successful so we were able to donate to
'Our Kids' at Lismore Base Hospital and also present a check to Life Education,
a high school program. An invitation to the Friendship Dinner is sent
to all organizations in our area."
QI of Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia
"Put together dinner honoring volunteers from different volunteer
groups in the city and for individuals who normally receive no recognition
for their efforts and dedication."
QI of Tweeds Head/Coolangatta, Queensland, Australia
"Citizenship evening: We work with our local member of parliament
and host an evening where for people who are taking Australian citizenship.
We give them Australian bags with all Australian items. Their families
attend and Quotarians serve supper to all of them free of charge. This
was successful because it made members feel good and raised public awareness."

"Held a decorated table dinner. Different tables were decorated by
local businesses. There were assorted themes. The night consisted of dinner,
entertainment, and an auction."

QI of Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia
"Club holds a Bride of the Year Quest. There is full club participation.
Community and local businesses donate prizes. Funds go to a particular
charity after each event."
QI of Parkes, New South Wales, Australia
"Held a garden competition in the town. The money is donated to the
local cancer support group. The garden competition is a very popular event
in the town's calendar of events and involves all sections of the community;
those with gardens, the public who view them on two open days, and singers
and crafts people who perform and have displays in the gardens. The event
provides great publicity for the Quota club as the town newspaper is a
joint promoter of the competition. Club members enjoy working together
on the days of the competition."
QI of Sioux City, Iowa, U.S.A.
"The club held an 8th grade girls honor luncheon. Schools nominate
girls for improved behavior; they are given an award and recognition for
their improved behavior (not necessarily top academics)."

QI of Aruba
"Brought in self-esteem speaker and had 1,000 students and their
parents attend free of charge. Started with grades 5 through 7. Trying
to combat drug and alcohol abuse in the young."
QI of Liverpool, New South Wales, Australia
"Held a large diabetes expo. There was a meal for participants, equipment
for eye testing and an exercise program, advertising through magazines,
guest speakers, representatives from the health department to answer questions,
and music from the Army Band. Money raised went to buy supplies for the
hospital."
QI of Murgon, Queensland, Australia
"We have a Women's Health night held annually for women of all ages.
Four to five speakers cover topics on specific or general women's health.
Topics covered so far have included: menopause, depression, bowel health,
and pelvic exercise. This year's topics will include planning for aged
care and natural remedies."
QI of Orillia, Ontario, Canada
"Held a Menopause Information Night for over 450 attendees."
QI of Paso Robles, California, U.S.A.
"Club held a 'Noise Day' at a local school. There was a competition
for the best poster on noise. Members explained about the dangers of noise
and gave out earplugs."
QI of Sandgate, Queensland, Australia
"The club hosted a children's breakfast, providing breakfast for
five schools1,500 students. The students got cereal, fruit and milk.
The club members were touched personally by how appreciative the children
were."

"Club brought a signing Santa (for deaf children) to local mall.
Used contacts in the school system and newspaper ads to promote event."
QI of West Wyalong, New South Wales, Australia
"We held a Sunday luncheon for Diabetic Awareness and raised over
$1,000 which went directly to the Diabetics Association. More than 120
women attended this lunch in our small town of only 1,800. We also hold
an Australia Day breakfast that is attended by over 500 people each year."
QI of Whitsunday, Queensland, Australia
"Club organized a 'Clean Up Australia' program. Members organized
volunteers, food, and publicity for the event."

get out of their retirement homes."

"Organize the Wild Goose Chase, a car rally adventure trail. Funds
raised go to BAYSBingley Area Youth Services."
QI of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia
"As part of our service we provide a bingo night at two nursing homes.
We give a small chocolate for a line win and a larger chocolate for each
game winner. At the end of the evening we give a small chocolate to anyone
who did not win. We then provide a supper for the ladies and men with
refreshments."
QI of Glen Innes, New South Wales, Australia
"Organize a deaf camp; get support from District 24."
QI of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia
"Hold an annual race day event. Provide food and have a big raffle.
Quota receives a percentage of all race bets made. Last year the club
made about $15,000."

"Contributed to a state-wide dance for deaf students. Members helped
out by getting food and drink donations. They also decorated the gym and
took digital photos of the students and then sent them to the schools."

"Held a Quota bingo luncheon for the elderly."

"Hold an annual bookfest."
QI of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
"Night at the races. This event raised $7,600 for Harmony House Halfway
house for abused women to furnish some rooms and provide basic needs.
It helped the club members come together and work as a team."
QI of Papakura, New Zealand
"Senior citizens concert held annually. Advertise concert in rest
homes, deliver in council flat letterboxes, and through other council
and elderly groups. Members arrange to pick up those who need transport.
Past member and her husband run sing-a-longs. Club members provide a beautiful
afternoon tea. This project gives an opportunity for those who don't get
out much to have an outing. The benefits are seeing the looks on faces
and this has become an easily run project."
QI of Parkes, New South Wales, Australia
"Hold a biennial open gardens event. Ten different gardens are chosen
with different displays at each. Lunch and tea are served, and there is
an A cappella group moving between the gardens. The event is different
every time and generates a lot of publicity."
QI of Thuringowa, Queensland, Australia
"Club holds a Teddy Bear Picnic. It is a free activity day for children,
and bears are presented to emergency service workers. The picnic day at
the park attracted several hundred children. There was a signing choir,
entertainment, and a fun presentation of bears to the fire brigade, police,
and ambulance service."

"The club has been participating in Relay for Life for three years.
Members are on an organizing committee, and they are part of the catering
team for 24 hours. They also have someone walking all the time. They have
gained new members as a result of this service."
QI of Kent Valley, Washington, U.S.A.
"Club organized pre- and post-events at 'Safe from the Sun,' a Melanoma
Foundation walk-a-thon. Club members also helped out at cancer screenings
and handed out umbrellas, sunscreen, and hats."
QI of Northampton, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.
"Club held a walk-a-thon. One wheelchair bound student was nominated
to be the recipient of the funds from the event. There was 100 percent
participation of Quota members for the first time."

QI of Alstonville-Wollongbar, New South Wales, Australia
"Club held a craft fair for cancer awareness."
QI of Armidale, New South Wales, Australia
"Rent out sites at Craftarama. The club has a list of vendors, uses
word of mouth, and contacts other clubs. They send flyers to other clubs
having craft shows to distribute to stall holders and visitors. They also
visit other shows and contact stall holders from there. Club holds the
Craftarama in November, a good time for Christmas shopping. They maintain
a high standard of craft to keep people coming. The event is good for
fellowship and publicity and all funds support local needs. Last year
nearly $12,000 was raised."
QI of Gridley, California, U.S.A.
"Club runs a thrift shop; all the clothing is donated and then sold.
Clothing not sold is sent to a farm labor camp. The nice clothing is given
to a local community college for ladies who need clothing for job interviews.
It is also given to a shelter for women. Sold items bring finances and
exposure to club."
QI of Maleny, Queensland, Australia
"Club holds an annual Quilt Show. They also visit the local retirement
village for birthday and Christmas celebrations. The club also holds a
Student of the Year Contest, a Debutante Ball, and a Street Carnival."
QI of Whitsunday, Queensland, Australia
"Club runs community markets. This started as a project to help rejuvenate
their small town. Now there is a sense of pride and satisfaction over
the community spirit evident at the markets."
