QI of Coral Springs-Parkland, Florida, U.S.A.
"Our favorite project is sponsoring a soccer team with a deaf child.
As a new club this project gave us publicity in the community and allowed
us to tell the parents of all the children about Quota. We are now recognized
in the community."
QI of Essendon, Victoria, Australia
"Raised funds for Highpoint Industries (a sheltered workshop) over
a number of years through various activities such as Elvis Nights, race
days, craft fairs, etc. We have provided ergonomic chairs, special phones
for the main switchboard, and other equipment required. This has enabled
the organization to devote government funding to other activities, providing
work skills for disabled participants, and it has raised Quota's profile."
QI of San Luis Obispo, California, U.S.A.
"An endowment fund has been set up at our community college to help
those women who are re-entering the workforce at midlife. The funds are
made available to these women (through application) to pay their college
fees. There is also a fund available to pay for books and emergency needs
as they may arise. We held the fund-raiser, 'Salute to Staff,' to fund
the endowment."
QI of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
"The club supports smaller, less well advertised organizations. We
do this by sponsoring the printing of pamphlets for a Lupus Awareness
group and the Suicide Survivors Support Group."
QI of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia
"Club worked together for fund-raising for 'Fresh Hope' drug rehabilitation
for young mothers who can be treated with their children in residence
and taught to be families again."

Equipment/Supplies
QI of Alice Springs, Northern Terroritory, Australia
"The club supports two women's refuge centers in a 350 km radius.
They provide personal essentials and special gifts for the women and children
at Christmas. Clothes are provided for the children, especially at Christmas."
QI of Atascadero, California, U.S.A.
"Club made up school backpacks filled with school supplies and other
personal items. These were given to homeless shelters for women and children."
QI of Auckland, New Zealand
"Club supports a residential home for the intellectually handicapped.
They purchased a uniform for the sporting groups of the home. Club members
also took ladies out to lunch and got them all manicures. This project
was successful because it was hands-on service and not just providing
funds."
QI of Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia
"Club provided games, TV, and more for children visiting the local
prison."
QI of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.
"Club has given 80,078 books to Cops 'n' Kids. Have also established
a reading room furnished by Ethan Allen, staffed by all volunteers. Club
members held a banquet that raised $85,000 and gained loads of publicity."
QI of Brisbane South, Queensland, Australia
"Brisbane South donates household items, clothing, and toiletries
to the Women's Refuge so that when women leave the refuge, they have something
with which to start their home all over again. We feel as a club that
it is women helping women. Domestic violence doesn't seem to be a 'respect
of person,' so it has helped our club, as this situation may affect one
of our members."
QI of Candlewood Valley, Connecticut, U.S.A.
"Donated laundry baskets filled with household items to women and
children leaving the homeless shelter."
QI of Condobolin, New South Wales, Australia
"Purchased nonperishable food and household products, packaged at
local supermarket and distributed to needy families affected by drought.
They were distributed by the Drought Relief Agency. This project helped
the club because of the increased fellowship of the members. The good
publicity also increased the club's public profile and there was a good
feeling of satisfaction in having done something right."
QI of Eureka, California, U.S.A.
"Club donates backpacks and suitcases filled with pajamas, books,
toys, toiletries, and more. These are given to the Sexual Abuse Response
Team to be given to children removed from violent situations."
QI of Flint, Michigan, U.S.A.
"The club worked with jails. They placed computer systems into hospitals,
jails, etc., where deaf people can make use of them instead of waiting
for an interpreter. This sytem operates 24 hours a day."
QI of Las Piñas, The Philippines
"The club adopted a pediatric ward in a district hospital in Las
Piñas City and donated nebulizers, cribs, and other equipment and
medicine."
QI of Liverpool, New South Wales, Australia
"Club provides materials that mothers would normally need right after
giving birth. They donate these items to hospital, and the hospital distributes
them. Shelters won't take the women right after giving birth if they come
empty-handed."
QI of Mackay, Queensland, Australia
"Donated toiletry bags and simple recipe books to women's shelter."
QI of Monrovia Duarte, California, U.S.A.
"Club donated bears to the fire department, police department, and

to members serving on the board of a senior citizens center; and every
year we sing Christmas carols in the hospital."
QI of Orillia, Ontario, Canada
"The club helped the Children's Aid Society by making backpack kits
to provide items of necessity to displaced children."

from regional hospital to large medical centers. Give out about 90 a month."
QI of Taree, New South Wales, Australia

QI of Batemans Bay, New South Wales, Australia
"Club members work at Life Without Barriers, an organization that
helps disabled young people over school age. We take them shopping and
craft with the men and women. The looks on their faces are worth so much.
We feel this project breaks down the barriers for all of us."
QI of Massillon, Ohio, U.S.A.
"Quota and PAL teaming together. The project started with a grant
to help young women who were incarcerated. Members came to the prison
with an artist and offered classes for eight weeks. During the process,
members became mentors. Now the club is doing a painting exhibition. Quota
is framing and selling the paintings with the proceeds going to furnish
a halfway house for the women."
QI of Tacoma, Washington, U.S.A.
"We helped Faith Homes Union Street Group Home for Girls 13 to 18
years old. We applied hands-on help in repairing, painting, and redecorating
the home. We supplied paint, wallpaper, door locks, and knobs all installed
by members. We also bought new appliances for the kitchen. We provided
mentoring and provided the girls with information on finances, hygiene
training, etiquette when dining out, social graces, and more. These activities
have been held over a two-year period and are ongoing. They really brought
our club together and gave all members of all ages an opportunity to grow
and come closer together within the club."
QI of Wooster, Ohio, U.S.A.
"Delivery of services to adult deaf community: video interpreting
services, summer speech programs for children, and interpretive services.
The club works as a liaison to deliver the services.
