2008 International Photography Contest Winners Announced Congratulations to the TOP THREE WINNERS of the 2008 We Share Foundation International Photography Contest. Once again, our judges were the official staff photographers at the White House in Washington, D.C. Each winning club chose one of our Club-to-Club World Service projects to receive their prize money.
The Kirksville Quota Club provides hundreds of Quota Cares bears to local emergency services each year, from the police and fire departments to the local Violence Intervention Center, the courthouse, and the emergency room. This image of a little boy who had just received a Quota bear during a hospital stay was the judges' unanimous choice for our Grand Prize. "Among its qualities are compassion and caring," they said. "If ever there were one single image that speaks volumes about Quota International's mission, this would be it." QI of Kirksville donated their U.S.$500 prize to the Club-to-Club project run by QI of Iloilo in the Philippines.
The Quota club of Forster-Tuncurry devotes two August days each year
to raise money for cancer research. The effort to sell daffodils, Quota
bears, footballs, and other items attracts publicity and community support
for the Quota club. This image of club members (from left) Barbara Walters,
Nerelle Duff, Helen Pearse, and Maureen Wallace won second place in the
contest for its strong and creative composition. "The faces of the
Quotarians are a reflection of their volunteerism and commitment to the
cause," judges said.
The Junior Q's sponsored by the Quota club of Cambridge held a very successful first service project that introduced youngsters to proper and humane pet care. This image, taken during the event, captured third place in our photography contest because the judges found it "a wonderfully tender moment with great expressions on the children's faces. Even the puppy is smiling?" QI of Cambridge donated their U.S.$100 prize to the Club-to-Club project run by QI of Sainik Farm in India. CONGRATULATIONS
TO ALL OF OUR WINNERS! Keep taking pictures for our 2009 competition
