Research often paves the way to progress, and Quota members understand the importance of research in helping deaf people. In recent years, the We Share Foundation has given U.S.$250,000 to accredited research institutions. The We Share Foundation currently funds scientific research into hearing disorders through grants to two leading research facilities: House Ear Institute (HEI) in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., and The Children's Cochlear Implant Centre (CCIC) in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. In 1995, the convention voting body approved a motion to distribute $100,000 to HEI and $25,000 to CCIC. At the successful completion of the research term in 1997, identical grants were issued to the two institutions. A
