Kasamaka Morong Community Based Rehabilitation Center (CBR) and the
Center for Disabled People in Morong, Rizal Despite some delays, the Manila South club was able to open the new Center for Disabled People in October. Quota's International President Dolores Brosky was on hand for the ceremony, which ignored the many setbacks experienced by the club during the construction phase. The presence of some huge boulders on the property and the absence of a water pipeline were cause for headaches, but club members continued to enthusiastically visit the construction site and encourage the workers to do their best to bring hope to area families in dire need. Local officials have pledged additional financial support and volunteer assistance to the center, but the project still needs Club-to-Club donations, which have made a great difference in an impoverished area. Says past club president Emilie Simon, "The parents and other elders do not know how to thank Quota International of Manila South. Sometimes they just approach us, hold our hands, and shed tears of joy." To learn more about the Philippines, click here. To return to the Club-to-Club World Service page, |
