    House Ear Institute
    Reports on Quota Scholars

The House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., developed the cochlear implant, which has enhanced the lives of many deaf persons throughout the world. In 1995, Quota International decided to invest in research at HEI by sponsoring Quota Scholars to study an aspect of hearing health.

Grants of U.S.$100,000 each were awarded to HEI in 1995 and 1998. The money has supported the work of nine scholars during these years and continues to fund the work of the two current Quota Scholars, BomJun Kwon and Stephen Brown.

Quotarian Dilys Jones, a member of the Monrovia, California, club and the communications director of HEI, says the contributions of both young scientists to House research has made Quota's money well spent.

Quota International is proud to sponsor these two Quota Scholars through the resources of the We Share Foundation in our quest to make the world a better place for deaf and hearing-impaired individuals.
