2002 World Net Service "Club-to-Club" Projects Approved

At its November 2001 meeting, the We Share Foundation Board of Trustees approved eight 2002 Club-to-Club World Service Projects (up from seven projects in 2001).

    1. Ba, Fiji
Project: Senior Citizens Hearing Assessment and Aid

The Ba Club will be using Club-to-Club donations to help purchase hearing aids for seniors and provide the services of hearing specialists. Additionally, the project will continue to provide assistance in paying partial school fees for children from the Ba HART village (as was done last year).
    2. Sainik Farm, New Delhi, India
      Project: Home for the Aged

New to the Club-to-Club program, Quota International of Sainik Farms will use Club-to-Club World Service donations to provide food, shelter, and medical treatment for the aged. Specifically, this year's donations will be used to put in a new tube well so that residents will not have to fill and carry heavy buckets of water.
    3. New Delhi, India
Project: Quota Home for Abandoned and Destitute Women

Club-to-Club World Service donations will permit New Delhi's Quota Home for Abandoned and Destitute Women to continue to serve needy women by providing skills training so that they can earn a living and support their children. This year, Club-to-Club donations will be used to expand Quota Home in order to provide more activities, education for more children, and to provide housing and shelter for more women.
    4. Iloilo, Philippines
Project: Livelihood Incentive Fund for the Education of the Deaf (L.I.F.E.) Multi-Purpose Cooperative

Graduates of the High School for the Deaf have to compete with the hearing for the scarce jobs available in the locality. Through Club-to-Club donations, Iloilo's Livelihood Incentive Fund for the Education of the Deaf Multi-Purpose Cooperative will provide seed capital for graduates in the form of loans. Members will also undergo training in bookkeeping/basic accounting, handicrafts, and other skills.
    5. Las Piñas, Philippines
      Project: Little Angels Home

Quota International of Las Piñas is new to the Club-to-Club World Service Program. Little Angels Home is a newly incorporated orphanage for abused and disadvantaged children who have been abandoned and have no place to live due to poverty, unemployment, and drug addiction. Club-to-Club World Service donations will be used to help support the home as it strives to create an atmosphere of normalcy while providing children with the basic needs essential for healthy living.
    6. Manila, Philippines
Project: Correctional Institute for Women Educational Tutoring and Skills Training Program

The Correctional Institute for Women has an average population of 800 women, 15% of whom are due for release or parole during the year. The Manila Club-to-Club Program will help these women become assimilated back into the community by providing them with skills training and education. Also, a hired social worker will provide much-needed psychological support.
    7. Manila-South, Philippines
      Project: Center for Disabled People

The Center for Disabled People, launched last year through Club-to-Club World Service donations, is in need of additional funds to finish the building and acquire classroom and therapy furniture, educational materials, and basic medical tools. The completion of the center will help serve the ever-increasing number of multi-disabled children and young adults.
    8. Suriname
Project: Claudia A. Foundation Afternoon Care Project

The Claudia A. Foundation is the only organization in Suriname that focuses on helping people who are HIV positive or who have been diagnosed with AIDS (and their families). The afternoon care project is designed to help orphans and children whose parents are HIV positive or have AIDS. The children are given a meal every day and assistance with homework. Children are also offered legal, medical, mental health, and practical guidance. Club-to-Club World Service donations will be used to renovate the children's area of the center; purchase equipment; and provide children's transportation to and from school and the center.

All donations made to Club-to-Club projects reach their intended targets because the We Share Foundation absorbs all administrative costs. To donate to any Club-to-Club World Service Project, please send your donation to the We Share Foundation, 1420 21st Street, NW, Washington, D.C., 20036. You may designate your donation to the projects of your choice. We Share Foundation staff will target all undesignated donations.
