Memphis Club Promotes Child Safety

The Memphis Quota club in Tennessee, U.S.A., volunteers to help the local sheriff's department staff a booth at the annual Mid-South Fair. Established by the Commission on Missing and Exploited Children (COMEC), the booth encourages parents to provide specific information about their children to local law enforcement agencies to help in the event of a crime.

Quota volunteers help make child photo ID cards, which are made free of charge during the event and given to parents for safekeeping. Volunteers collect information from families, including the name, date of birth, eye and hair color, and height and weight of each registered child. The data is printed on a card similar to a driver's license along with a photo taken at the booth.
