Santa Fe Quota Club Cheers Forgotten Kids

An attorney for the State of New Mexico knows what happens to kids with mental illness who commit crimes—they live in a mental hospital far from public attention.

Since the attorney is also the Santa Fe Quota club's Community Champion, she encouraged the club to help her bring hope to these young people with a simple Christmas gesture. Members discovered a favorite service project in making cookies and candies for 20 young boys who reside in the New Mexico Forensic State Mental Hospital. Their champion delivers the goodies, dressed as Santa Claus, and reports that the boys are overjoyed by the act of kindness.

The vivacious lawyer remembers older mental hospital residents, too. She visits these wards of the state at Easter and distributes goodies…dressed as the Easter Bunny, of course!
