We Share Foundation Receives Major Grant Award The We Share Foundation has received a major grant award, totaling almost U.S.$100,000. The donation given by the Morton H. Meyerson Family Tzedakah Funds of Dallas, Texas, U.S.A., in honor of David Nathan Meyerson, Marti Meyerson Hooper, Marlene Nathan Meyerson, and Leslie Meyerson Gordon, is earmarked to fund construction of a new building for the Quota Home for Abandoned and Destitute Women and Children in New Delhi, India. The Home is one of Quota International's Club-to-Club World Service Projects, supported and overseen by the We Share Foundation's award-winning World Net Service program. Club-to-Club allows Quota clubs and other donors to support the work of Quota clubs in developing countries. The We Share Foundation assumes all administrative costs for receiving and distributing these donations. Every penny of this grant award will be transferred to the Quota Home building project. The Quota Home was established by the Quota club of New Delhi in 1978. The overwhelming success of this innovative shelter, school, and job-training facility for women and children in the Faridibad slum area led the club to break ground on an additional building last year.
A representative of the Meyerson Family Tzedakah Funds toured the Quota Home earlier this year. Impressed by the work accomplished there, the family offered to pay for construction of the new school for children to free the existing structure for more employment and literacy-training classes for women. The Meyerson Family Tzedakah Funds donation of U.S.$97,450 will be sent to the New Delhi Quota club in increments to cover each expansion phase. If the club's building project is completed both on time and within budget, an additional gift of U.S.$10,000 will be donated for future upkeep of the school. The We Share Foundation Director Nancy Fitzpatrick, also Deputy Executive Director of Quota International, Inc., says, "This incredibly generous donation is a dream come true for the dedicated members of Quota International of New Delhi, who founded the home. They set an excellent example of service for our entire organization. This gift is affirmation to Quota members around the world that their volunteer service to make the world a better place is recognized and valued," she adds.
