Aruba Seminar Features Physicians
The wildly successful wellness seminar hosted by the Aruba Quota club in May 2001 focused on an appropriate themeabundance. The 13th annual event featured a leader in the field of mind-body medicine, Dr. Deepak Chopra, who spoke to a full house on "Creating Abundance in Your Life." The seminar began with presentations by two Aruban doctors. Dr. Triyesh Tiwari spoke on "How to Create a Healthy Life Style." Then, Dr. Richard Visser, a local chiropractor, led a 40-minute meditation and spoke on the benefits of the practice in daily life. Visser encouraged twenty minutes of meditation twice a day with no purpose or expectation. "The beginning of change is in simply quieting the mind," he said. Creating Abundance Chopra began his four-hour session with his idea of the connected-ness of the universe. "We should pay attention to all events, big and small. They are related," he said. Chopra told the rapt audience to become alert to the significance of connections because there are no coincidences. He said consciousness impacts everyday life and that it is possible to evoke a healing response from within us to prevent and cure disease. "Our internal dialog shapes our biological clock," he said, adding that internal dialog should come from the spirit, not the ego, and that external dialogue should be easygoing and full of love. Each person, said Chopra, has the ability to create abundance in her own life through awareness, intuition, and creative responses. Warm and Generous Chopra is the author of 26 books, including How to Know God; Grow Younger, Live Longer; and Soulmate. He currently lives near LaJolla, California, U.S.A., where he is CEO and founder of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing. Listed among Time magazine's Top 100 Icons and Heroes of the Century as "the poet-prophet of alternative medicine," Chopra is warm and giving, according to Aruba Quota members, who say he generously spent time at the event to pose for photos and sign books. Club members did take note of the famous physician's attentive wife, who
was busy assisting and supporting him throughout the event. In appreciation,
the Aruba club treated Mrs. Chopra to a well-deserved massage. Blaire Fallon Byrley For more information on Dr. Deepak Chopra, see www.chopra.com. |
