Twice each year, the Plantation Quota club in Florida, U.S.A., takes a group of kids to watch their local professional baseball team, the Florida Marlins, play. The team donates free tickets for the outings, while Quota members prepare a tailgate dinner and provide transportation for up to 25 youths. Past Club President Carol Zeber said club members have gotten to know several kids over the years: "It's been quite interesting to watch these kids growand it's been gratifying for the students and for us." The Bacalod Quota club in the Philippines provided parenting workshops for impoverished mothers in a seaside baranguay. About 35 moms attended outreach sessions covering nutrition, discipline, household budgeting, and personal development. The club uses the opportunity to distribute food, clothes, books, and toys to families. In addition, the club partners with another organization to build housing for fisherman in an area of their city where many homeless families and squatters live. UNITED

In Georgia, U.S.A., the Quota club of Valdosta used 2004 profits from
their wildly successful annual fund-raiser, "Taste of Valdosta,"
offering food samples from local restaurants, to support a number of local
service efforts. One donation supports a therapeutic horseback riding
program for disabled children. In this photo, Past Club President Lynda
Jones assists her granddaughter, Ashlyn, to try out the club-sponsored
horse. |
