    Visiting Grietjebie and Stizona

Children with special needs receive no special education in Surinamese schools. But Quota makes a difference there by supporting two schools for mentally retarded children. QI of Suriname supports Grietjebie School for young children with curriculum materials and supplies.

June meets students at Grietjebie School…

…and discovers a common bond in braids!

Later in the day, June met older students at the Stizona Educational School. Once a Club-to-Club World Service Project, the school trains mentally retarded youth for work, mainly in horticulture, and self-sufficiency as adults.

Quota donations have allowed QI of Suriname to expand the school facilities.
