    Quota Success in Baton Rouge

Past Club President Kathy Andrus says the investment at Istrouma will serve hundreds of Baton Rouge children for years to come. "This was a one-time donation of $8,000 that will have long-lasting effects by touching the lives of hundreds of children and their parents," she explains. "Our support encouraged the center to expand the project to two additional sites. This will help enable these young families to break the cycle of poverty."

One teen mother says, "Without the loving support they give me, I wouldn't have made it this far. My child and I really appreciate how much concern for us they have at this center."

Another wrote the center to say, "Without this center, I don't think that I would have been able to continue with my education or get on with life and become a better parent. When my daughter grows up, I'll tell her how I was helped and blessed by this school. I don't have to worry about who is keeping her, how she is being treated, or how I can pay her daycare fees. I don't even have to worry about her learning because I know y'all are teaching her very well. I love U."

Kathy says club members benefit from their association with Istrouma, too. "It's easy to put middle class values on everyone, but unrealistic when someone doesn't live a middle class life," she observes. "Any time Quota members get a chance to 'walk a mile in another's shoes,' they learn from that experience."
