Quota
International of DLF City, India
Weekly
Health Camp, Charitable Dispensary, Vocational Training Center
A
local place of worship was the setting of Quota International of DLF City's
newest initiative, a weekly health camp for slum children. In the gardens
of the gurudwara, 200 children gathered every week for free preventative
care and treatment that their families could not otherwise afford. Staffed
by club members, the doctor who runs the club's charitable dispensary,
and a 15-year-old assistant who earns money to pay for school fees, the
clinic provided children with check-ups and medicine as necessary.
While
attending to children's health needs, Quotarians also addressed one of
the primary causes of their poor health: malnutrition. All children received
mid-day meals supplemented with multi-vitamins and fresh fruit. The occasional
surprise made the health camp an exciting place to visitcandy, chocolate,
biscuits, and small gifts were given during holiday celebrations, and,
when possible, Quotarians collected and distributed donated clothes.
DLF City Quotarians also coordinate two ongoing projects: a charitable
dispensary, offering underprivileged residents free medical care and medicine,
and a vocational training center for women.

| With this type of care, there have been improvements in the health of many children. They look forward to their Sunday mid-day meal, and we are helping in bringing some sunshine to their lives. |
