Sawang
Calero, Guba, and Talamban Day Care Centers and Feeding Programs
Two
Centers Continue Service to Children
Since 1982, Cebu Quotarians have been improving the lives of some of the
most vulnerable in their society. Their Sawang Calero Day Care Center
provides nutrition and education to children in a fishing village who
would otherwise eat only rice and salt or scavenge for food. With daily
meals and educational programming, the Quota club provides children with
proper nutrition and a safe haven from drug- and crime-ridden communities.
The Sawang Calero center, which now enrolls 130 students, was so successful
that in 1998, the club opened a second center for 75 children in the mountain
barangay of Guba.

Third
Center Opens
Cebu Quotarians will now extend their reach to a third community, opening
a center for 120 children in Talamban. They have purchased a 150 square-meter
lot to construct the center, which, like the others, will provide three-
to six-year old children with supplemental feeding and early education
that encompasses reading, writing, arithmetic, and proper conduct, so
that they are prepared for entry into grade 1. The school also offers
medical and dental clinics, deworming, and vitamins.

Each aspect of the programnutritional, educational, and medicalensures
healthy development during this critical stage in life. Club-to-Club donations
will reach children in a variety of important ways, including food, medicine,
vitamins, building maintenance, uniforms, shoes, staff salaries, and holiday
gifts.
