Audiogram
Project and Educational Support for HART Village Children
The Ba Quota club addresses many hearing needs among disadvantaged members
of their local community. This project provides:
- Hearing Screenings

Eight clinics provided by the club throughout the year identify hearing
needs among disadvantaged people in Ba. This project targeted only
seniors last year, but the club hopes to expand services to include
members of the Deaf Association and poverty-stricken tenants in HART
Village as well.
Many Quota clubs in the South Pacific and elsewhere have contributed
used hearing aids to this project as well. The hearing aids are refurbished
free of charge by an Australian audiologist, who also runs the
hearing clinics.
- Educational Support for Young People
The
Ba club has long supported the educational needs of hearing-impaired
students from HART Village. The program has helped lower drop-out
rates among these students and successfully encouraged self-sufficiency
after graduation. The club supports the students by paying for hearing
health needs as well as scholastic fees, supplies, and transportation
costs. As a result, these children perform better in school and become
able to complete their education.
The club also supports the children after graduation to help them
establish careers. Young people who are employed and members of the
local Deaf Association can get assistance from the club for hearing
services and hearing aids, which can be crucial for job success.
