Honorable
Mention Winner
At least that's the winning attitude of Monroe, Louisiana, Quotarians who held or participated in five worthwhile, but very diverse, projects during the month of March. There was something for everyone from reading stories to children to visiting sick or elderly members or volunteering during a fund-raiser for a local public radio station and more!
Highlighting the month on March 26 was the "Under the Quota Stars Fund Raiser." A sit-down dinner featured Louisiana Secretary of State Jay Dardenne, who spoke about "Why Louisiana Ain't Mississippi." This was a lively demonstration of the demographics, culture, and history of Louisiana and its people, told through music and impersonations. Ticket sales and the proceeds of a raffle held during the event brought in $10,600 for the Monroe Quota club's service projects.
The month ended high on the airwaves with Quotarians manning the phones and taking pledges of support for KEDM Public Radio. KEDM has always been generous with radio time to publicize the Quota club's service projects, not to mention the Quota Cares Month projects. These projects were also heavily advertised in newspapers and on television stations in the Monroe area. It just proves that the more events and service projects the Quota club holds during Quota Cares Month, the more publicity and community awareness Quota will receive and ultimately, the more members.
