    Honorable Mention Winner
    Quota International of Iloilo

With its Quota Cares Month project, Quota International of Iloilo empowered ordinary people to recognize and fulfill their significant roles in the lives of the disabled. While only medical professionals are equipped to diagnose and treat disabilities, parents and caregivers often play the most crucial roles in identifying signs of disability and providing and managing the consistent care necessary to ensure that individuals with disabilities reach their full potential. Recognizing this, Iloilo Quotarians held a three-day training on Early Detection, Prevention, and Intervention of Disabilities at its Leganes Day Center for the Elderly. The training drew social workers, government employees, and teachers from each of the province's ten municipalities, spreading the word of Quota and its Leganes Center throughout the region.

Once gathered in one spot, participants got down to business! A doctor spoke about such disabilities as blindness, mental retardation, and other learning disabilities, and a social worker discussed deafness and difficulty with communication and hearing. These seminars were followed by an introduction to basic sign language and the operation of audiometers to test children's hearing and a Quotarian's testimonial about her experience with Quota and the club's projects and activities. At the conclusion of three days, Quota International of Iloilo had met its goal, as attendees had learned to identify children with disabilities, educate parents and caregivers, and refer them to appropriate schools and professionals. They also had the opportunity to collaborate and share resources—all while learning more about Quota, the organization that had brought them all together.
