Quota Cares Month—Honorable Mention Winner
Quota International of Parkes

The Quota club of Parkes in New South Wales dedicated Quota Cares Month this year to spreading Quota's mission and example to women of all ages.

Their work began on March 10, International Women's Day, with a luncheon for a packed house of 170. The day's speaker, Jodie Trimble, talked about her experiences working with women in rural Thailand as well as her efforts to import and sell their crafts in Australia. Club members felt Jodie's message aligned with Quota International's mission as well as their own club goals. A competitive government grant helped fund Jodie's visit.

This same grant allowed Parkes Quotarians to invite groups of young women to the event—girls about to graduate from local high schools as well as clients and staff from Currajong Enterprises, which works with disadvantaged young people who have left school. By emphasizing the importance of volunteer work and sharing information about Quota, the club members hoped these young women could find ways to make a difference in the world.

Just a few days later, the Quotarians of Parkes were again sharing food, fellowship, and the Quota mission, this time with a group of seniors to celebrate Seniors' Week. The morning tea included 72 people age 55 and over, and emphasized Quota's appeal to every age group, an effort that obviously worked, as several new potential members planned to attend the next open club meeting in May.
